Real Estate Photography in Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena: A Local Guide for Agents
Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena sit only a few miles apart, but their homes photograph very differently. A Craftsman bungalow in Pasadena needs a different approach than a hillside view home above Glendale or a mid-century ranch house in Burbank. These three cities are at the center of our service area, and here is what agents there should know before booking a shoot.
Glendale: views, hills and a mix of styles
Glendale runs from condos and Spanish-style homes near downtown to hillside properties in neighborhoods like Chevy Chase Canyon, Verdugo Woodlands and Rossmoyne. On the hillside, the view often sells the house.
Blend exposures in view rooms so the scenery outside the window stays visible instead of turning white.
Steep driveways and sloped lots are hard to show from the street. A drone shot can show the whole property and its setting against the Verdugo Mountains.
Condos and townhomes near Brand Boulevard and the Americana benefit from amenity shots of the pool, gym or rooftop, plus a short clip of the neighborhood.
Burbank: mid-century homes and narrow lots
Burbank's residential areas include Magnolia Park, the Rancho Equestrian District and the hillside streets above the city. Many homes are single-story ranch and mid-century designs on narrow lots.
Wide, low houses can look flat in photos. A slightly raised camera position and carefully corrected vertical lines keep them looking their best.
On narrow lots, the exterior angle matters. The wrong angle lets the neighbor's garage take over the frame.
Equestrian properties in the Rancho area are a natural fit for aerial photos that show the lot, the stables and nearby trail access.

A note on drones in Burbank: much of the city sits inside the controlled airspace around Hollywood Burbank Airport. Flying there requires FAA authorization, usually requested through the LAANC system, and some spots close to the airport can't be approved at all. If you want aerials, book a few days ahead so airspace approval doesn't hold up your listing.
Pasadena: historic homes and character details
Pasadena is known for its Craftsman homes, and neighborhoods like Bungalow Heaven, Madison Heights and the Arroyo also have Spanish Colonial Revival, Tudor and mid-century modern houses. Buyers here often pay for character, so the photos need to show it.
Detail shots of woodwork, built-ins, original tile and leaded glass matter as much as wide room shots.
Dark wood interiors need careful lighting so they look warm instead of muddy.
Mature trees shade many front facades. Timing the exterior shot for even light avoids harsh bright and dark patches.
Twilight exteriors work especially well on Craftsman porches with warm lighting. See our guide to twilight real estate photography.
Light and timing in the foothills
Hillside streets in all three cities can lose direct sun earlier than flat neighborhoods nearby, so we check each property's orientation before choosing a time. On hazy days, mountain views can wash out. If the view is a selling point, a clear day after rain is worth waiting for.
